Yeah, I Know...

This isn't going to be a formal blog anymore. It won't be professional, it will have errors, but most importantly, it will be told from my heart. Recently I have discovered I have no one to discuss my obsessions with. People find it weird or they just simply don't care. I know that I only have a few followers right now, but I just want to continue this blog to release whatever creativity/thoughts come to me.

I'm pretty sure my followers know that I'm extremely obsessed with 90's TV. Particularly this show called That 70's Show. It's completely unique, hilarious, dramatic, passionate, and it overall just makes you feel something when you watch. I had been watching every single episode (like the dedicated fan I am) for many months.

Today about an hour and a half ago, I finished the last episode. This may sound stupid, but I frankly don't care...I literally fell over as soon as it ended. I just fell onto the floor. It felt like my heart had been sucked out of my body. I haven't stopped crying, haven't stopped thinking about every character, scene, setting of the amazing show that has become a part of me since. Anyone who's ever obsessed over something will understand. Yeah, it's a psychological issue, but I don't give a crap.

If you've ever obsessed over a TV show, movie, video game, anything with a virtual life...you get it. That's the life that you want for yourself, that you wish so badly you were living. When it ends, you don't know what to do with yourself. The only way for you to remember your past is for you to let it into your future, but with TV, I still haven't figured out how to do this. How would I make That 70's Show a part of my future if it wasn't real in the first place?

I need help.

BOOKS: Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone

(Left to right: Emma Watson as Hermione, Daniel Radcliffe as Harry, and Rupert Grint as Ron)

It's true, Harry Potter has been around for 14 years! The first book, Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone, came out in 1997, but it didn't really reach popularity until 2000. The movies and books have around a total of 18 million Facebook fans, mostly in the US and England. Now that the final movie has been released, fans are expressing their sadness. With 18 million fans though, I don't think that the "Potter Power" will run out anytime soon. Let's hope to see a new generation enjoy these books, or maybe that even better ones will come out!

REVIEWS: 90's Fashion

Trends really do repeat themselves! The cute and fun crop tops from the 90s are still being worn today, the daring high wasted pants from that time have turned into trendy high waisted shorts, the long flowy floral dresses have shortened, and the popular casual guys flannel shirts are now worn by everybody.

TV: TeenNick is Bringing the 90's Back!

(Top to bottom: All That, Clarissa Explains it All, Doug,
Hey Arnold, and Kenan and Kel)

The 90's are All That! Nickelodeon recently released a promo stating that it would be showing all of TeenNick's 90's hits from midnight to 2 AM, such as All That, Hey Arnold, Kenan and Kel, Clarissa Explains it All, Doug, and more. Nickelodeon came up with the idea because they saw people taking an interest in early Nick programming on social media sites. There are several Facebook pages and millions of fans that are devoted to Nickelodeon shows from the 90's. I personally wasn't old enough during that time to enjoy or remember these shows, but I am definitely looking forward to watching them now.

REVIEWS: Movies: Forrest Gump

Throughout the nineties, there have been many timeless movies that we continue to adore today. One of the best, Paramount's "Forrest Gump," has charmed viewers of every age since 1994. Screenplay writer Eric Roth added many commonly quoted lines. A few of my favorite are—

Jenny: "Run Forrest, run!"

Lieutenant Dan: "Have you found Jesus yet, Gump?
Forrest: "I didn't know I was supposed to be looking for him, sir."

Bubba: "Have you ever been on a real shrimp boat?"
Forrest: "No, but I've been on a real big boat."

Forrest: "Bullet bit me right in the buttocks. They said it was a million dollar wound, but the army must keep that money 'cause I still haven't seen a nickel of that million dollars."

Coming from someone who has watched this three times, I thought the plot was clever, the storyline was really interesting, and it had a lot of fun twists. It had really memorable lines, funny characters with a lot of chemistry, and was just overall a good movie. I strongly recommend this 90's classic.

INVENTIONS: The 1990s, Dawn of the Information Age

The Internet is a global system of interconnected computer networks that we all take for granted today. It may seem like it has been around forever, but it was available to the public in the mid-1990's. It is estimated that a quarter of the Earth's population had begun using the Internet by 2009.

So what would happen if the Internet wasn't available? Instead of being able to research for a book report with just a click of a mouse, we would need to go to the library, take out an encyclopedia, and flip the pages until we'd found what we needed. Those fancy iPhones and Blackberrys that we can't seem to live without, the addicting Facebook.com, and of course emails would all be gone. Everything would take so much longer to do, yet we all use the world wide web without thinking twice.
